BASF registers Verismo insecticide for minor crops in Brazil

Brazil has approved BASF’s insecticide Verismo (Metaflumizone). The Verismo insecticide is a new alternative for minor crops in Brazil. 

 

The deferment of the request was published in the Official Union Gazette on Tuesday (10.03) with the authorization of the Department of Crop Defense under the registration No. 18,817. 

 

Belonging to the chemical group Semicarbazone, the agrochemical has recommendation for the control of the Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) and the Dark sword grass (Grotis ipsilon) and other insects in crops like chard, cabbage, watercress, lettuce, broccoli, potato, chicory, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, spinach, watermelon, melon, mustard, cabbage, arugula, tomato and grape, among others.

 

In major crops, such as soybeans, Verismo is recommended for the control of Helicoverpa armigera, the Velvetbean caterpillar (Anticarsia gemmatalis), and the Soybean Looper (Pseudoplusia includens). For corn, the product is indicated against Helicoverpa armigera and the Armyworm.

 

In cotton, the BASF insecticide combats the Cotton Leafworm (Alabama argillacea), the tobacco budworm (Heliothis virescens), Helicoverpa armigera and the Armyworm. In sugarcane, it is indicated for the subterranean termite (Heterotermes tenuis). In coffee, the product controls the Coffee Borer Beetle. Verismo is an alternative against the Citrus Fruit Borer (Ecdytolophaaurantiana).
