BASF has launched a new strategy for the Cooperar program in Brazil.
Besides supplying differentiated solutions for crop protection, the company will invest in training agricultural cooperatives to help them in the sustainable development of their business.
The new direction of the program started in 2016, when BASF’s access market staff, along with agricultural cooperatives in Brazil, mapped daily challenges for the expansion of the cooperative model in the business. After the survey, major points for improvement were raised for each of the cooperatives. Among them is the loyalty of cooperatives, succession of leaders and managers, besides marketing tools.
“The proximity and constant alignment between BASF and the cooperatives allows us to join forces to win the daily challenges and contribute to the perenniality of the cooperative chain. In the last grain season, the agricultural cooperatives in Brazil presented a growth of 13%, compared with the previous season. In order to help partnering cooperatives to continue with this growth levels, it is important to understand each one of the specific challenges,” affirmed Gustavo Bastos Alves, access market manager of the company.
In this sense, the Cooperar program also contemplates the training and development of the staff, through workshops that will be held by BASF in partnership with other education institutions and associations. The training can be at the present location or part of distance learning and will offer personalized content that covers agricultural policy, financial economics, human resource management and the loyalty of cooperatives.
“We believe that we can help partnering cooperatives to succeed even more in their activities through our integrated solutions that allow competitiveness gains, for increased yields in the field and industrial procedures or the optimization of resources. Therefore, it is important to walk together and identify the best actions that can be put in place,” affirmed Alves.
