China’s first glyphosate, glufosinate mixture herbicide released
Date:09-08-2017
Guangxi Hui Feng Biotechnology Ltd launched a glyphosate + glufosinate mixture herbicide recently, which is the first of its kind to be released in the market. It has drawn close attention from the industry.
In 2010, the first application for registration of glyphosate and glufosinate mixture product was submitted by YongNong BioSciences Ltd to the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture. The glyphosate and glufosinate mixture is conducive to solving the problem of resistance to glyphosate, but it will result in an increased use of glufosinate, which has not been approved due to policy restraint.
In 2014, ICAMA initiated a joint verification test on the glyphosate and glufosinate mixture product. In May 2017, the five companies participating in the joint verification test became the first few to obtain the registration for glyphosate and glufosinate mixture. Among them, Noposion, Shandong Dehao Chemicals, Shandong Zhaofeng Biological Science & Technology and Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals Group obtained temporary registration, while Guangxi Hui Feng Biotechnology Ltd obtained a full registration. Furthermore, more than 10 enterprises are expected to obtain registration very soon.
In recent years, there have been occurrences of many herbicide resistant weeds in China. According to information, there are 35 kinds of weeds that are resistant to 10 kinds of herbicides, particularly to glyphosate. Among these resistant weeds, eleusine indica and horseweed herb are strongly resistant to glyphosate. The results of the joint verification test show that a proper mixing of glyphosate and glufosinate expands the herbicidal spectrum, accelerates herbicidal speed, and enhances the effect of control, while reducing the cost.
It is said that the registered products will be mostly positioned to tackle resistant weeds.
