Course 2: how to select appropriate targeted crops for pesticide registrations in China?
Date:08-03-2017
Before registering your pesticides, appropriate targeted crops are prerequisite for the future success of your products in China. As we know, China is a vast country with great geographical and climatic diversity, and it has a great variety of crops and the use of pesticides in each crop is very different. Selecting appropriate targeted crops can make your products more competitive and more promising.
At present, most of the pesticides registered in China are used on field crops and cash crops planted in a very large area. The number of pesticides registered for rice, cotton, wheat, citrus, apple, corn, cabbage, peanut, oil seed rape and cucumber is up to 32,700, accounting for 67% of all the registrations. However, there is no pesticide registered for small specialty crops, such as dragon fruit, passion fruit and sweet potato. In this case your products may be more competitive if they are registered for these crops. Moreover, the shortage of pesticides for small specialty crops have attracted enough attention of China's Ministry of Agriculture. Taking strong measures to increase the number of pesticides registered for small specialty crops is one of the priorities of the Chinese government in the following days.
