Endosulfan, acephate among 5 prohibited products in China

The Plantation Administration Department of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has issued a public announcement recently under reference 2552 on implementing measures to control five kinds of pesticides, including endosulfan, methyl bromide, acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate. The details are:
1. Beginning from July 1, 2018, endosulfan registration shall be revoked; from March 26, 2019, the application of endosulfan to agriculture shall be prohibited.
2. Beginning from January 1, 2019, the scope of the use of registration of pesticides containing methyl bromide shall be changed to “quarantine fumigation treatment,” and the application of methyl bromide to agriculture shall be prohibited.
3. Beginning from August 1, 2017, the registration of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate (inclusive of single agent and mixture product containing active ingredients of the above three pesticides) for application to vegetable, melon, tea, fungus and herb shall be revoked; no further registration request for the application of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate to vegetable, melon, tea, fungus and herb shall be accepted. Beginning from August 1, 2019, the application of acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate to vegetable, melon, tea, fungus and herb shall be prohibited.
