SGS opens its state-of-the-art lab in Brookings, South Dakota
Date:07-07-2017
Celebrating the opening of our state-of-the-art lab in Brookings, South Dakota, the team was joined by industry representatives, business leaders and Keith Corbett, Mayor of Brookings, for tours, demonstrations and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Organized in conjunction with Brookings Chamber of Commerce, our ‘Chamber Mixer’ event on June 15 offered an opportunity for local clients, businesses and organizations, to join SGS experts to tour the new 68,000 sq. ft. laboratory. The groups were guided through the facility’s sample receipt area, testing laboratory, planting lines and germination rooms, taking time to view state-of-the-art equipment rooms, home to the most sensitive technology on site.
Typically closed to the public, this event allowed SGS managers to explain and demonstrate how SGS has implemented thoughtful process flow and advanced technology, allowing us to service a high volume of samples from the seed, crop, feed and food industries with quick turnaround times and diagnostic analysis.
Building on almost 25 years of success in Brookings, this new ISO 17025 and ISTA accredited laboratory brings the staff and expertise from three previous facilities under one roof – at the same time as expanding our footprint by 30% and giving us the scope to continue to grow with our customers.
Visitors also learned of the continued growth of SGS globally and locally, as the Brookings facility recently expanded its services from seed and crop testing to include food testing for quality, nutritional values and regulatory standards.
Nichole Berkenhoff, SGS Brookings Business Manager, said: “We are proud to showcase this new facility and have the opportunity to share with our community the important work that SGS does for the Agriculture and Food industries, locally and globally.”
Customers are welcome to make an appointment to tour SGS’s new facilities at 1405 32nd Avenue, Brookings, SD 57006. Join us, and learn more about the services SGS can deliver.
