Sri Lanka Customs seized 600 packets of glyphosate

Sri Lanka Customs yesterday seized 6 kilograms of herbicide glyphosate, which is prohibited from being imported to the country. 
 

Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) seized the consignment from a Sri Lankan national who arrived on a flight from India this morning. 
 

The glyphosate was contained in 600 packets each containing 100 grams of the substance. 
 

After the conclusion of the Customs inquiry, a penalty of Rs.200, 000 was imposed on the suspect while the glyphosate stock was confiscated by the state.
