Resistant weeds can now be controlled with a new herbicide. Australian company Nufarm announced the launch of Venture herbicide (Haloxyfop-P-methyl), recommended for use on crops such as cotton and soybean in Brazil. It’s a product of rapid foliar absorption that interrupts the growth of roots and grass shoots.
According to the manager of herbicides and adjuvants of Nufarm, agronomist Mario Drehmer, the new product is described as a post-emergent and selective herbicide, which has the compound Haloxyfop-P-methyl as an active ingredient. “This active ingredient is a reference to the management of grasses, including those that are resistant to glyphosate such as the sourgrass (Digitaria insularis), emphasized Drehmer.
According to Drehmer, the product is recommended for the control of signal grass (Brachiaria plantaginea) and the southern sandbur (Cenchrus echinatus) on cotton.
On soybean, the manager said, Venture acts over a wide spectrum of weeds, such as the sourgrass, the signal grass, the Jamaican crabgrass (Digitaria horizontalis) and others.
