EU renews ISK Biosciences' herbicide flazasulfuron

The European Commission has renewed the approval for ISK Biosciences’ herbicide flazasulfuron, effective from August 1, 2017. The new approval will expire on July 31, 2032.
The EU member states are required to pay particular attention to the protection of aquatic plants; the protection of non-target terrestrial plants; and the protection of groundwater, when the substance is applied in regions with vulnerable soil and/or climatic conditions。
The applicant shall submit to the Commission, the Member States and the Authority confirmatory information as regards the effect of water treatment processes on the nature of residues present in drinking water within a period of two years a guidance document on evaluation of the effect of water treatment processes on the nature of residues present in surface and groundwater being made public by the Commission.
