Date:04-03-2017
Hand in hand with the growth of Tradecorp, renovations to enlarge the space and capacity of the laboratory of the factory in Albacete were completed in the beginning of March. In our interview, Jorge Barbero, head of Quality Control at the Albacete factory, tells us what these changes mean for the laboratory team and the new challenges they face.
What are the main changes that the laboratory experiences after remodeling?
J. Barbero: The Laboratory has undergone a great change, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in the expansion of space. We now have a two-story building for the tasks that are performed in the laboratory of Albacete: the ground floor is dedicated to the Quality team and the first floor to the Chemical Development team. In addition, the remodeling has been accompanied by a notable investment in new equipment and technology, which put us at the forefront in our sector.
With the expansion of the laboratory, the ground floor is dedicated to Quality Control and the first to Chemical Development. Could you tell us a bit more about the functions that each team plays?
J. Barbero: In Quality Control, we perform all the work and tests that allow us to guarantee that the products of the Albacete factory comply with the most demanding standards of quality. A multidisciplinary team, made up of 6 analysts and a quality technician who provide 24-hour service to the factory, is in charge of the quality analysis of the raw materials we receive, as well as the homologation of the new raw materials that we are starting to work with, evaluate the quality of products manufactured and packaged …
The Albacete Chemical Development team is formed by a multidisciplinary team of 7 people working closely with the R & D and Regulatory teams for the development of new products, especially algae and amino acid based biostimulants, that allow us to move forward towards a more productive, ecological, and sustainable agriculture. In addition, they coordinate with the industrial team to ensure that viable products in the laboratory are also viable for manufacturing on an industrial scale.
The investment in more extensive and equipped laboratories is an example of Tradecorp’s commitment to the chemical team and their ability to handle the new challenges facing the company. What do these changes entail in the short term for you and the team?
J. Barbero: Personally, as head of Quality and Laboratory of the Albacete factory, it is a huge source of pride to be able to open the new laboratory and, above all, do it next to my team, which is doing a great job. The investment in the expansion and new equipment of the new laboratory places us among the leading companies in the sector and is undoubtedly a reflection of the growth of the company and the new challenges we are facing to develop work that is meticulous and adjusted to the quality requirements of our customers.
On the other hand, the expansion of the space and the increasingly demanding quality requirements suggest the possibility of an expansion of the equipment, which will allow us to achieve new objectives while maintaining our values of quality, rigor and demand.
