Bayer bets on good practices and sustainability

Bayer will participate in Expoagro (an agricultural fair to be held in Buenos Aires on March 7 to 10), to aid producers by providing "comprehensive solutions that will help them produce more and better in a sustainable way," said Hernán Bagliero, director of Bayer's Crop Science division in Argentina and Uruguay. “The focus will be on improving communication with the society, he added.”
For Bayer, its relationship with the field is fundamental. The Agro division represents almost 60 percent of the company's business in the country, and the share of the plant protection market exceeded 8 percent in the last campaign.
This year, the booth will not be associated with solution to specific issues alone, but will create a space to develop a relationship with customers and suppliers.
"We will focus on a dynamics that highlights the strength of Bayer — of helping producers by providing a comprehensive solution for more and better production, using innovative technology, as well as with real presence in the field," he said.
The industry still has a long way to go, despite its best efforts to promote the responsible use of plant protection products, he explained. So, there is a need to improve communication, he reiterated.
"The proper handling of packaging, quality of deposits, self-control within our sector, application certification and plant protection recipe are all being done in the wrong manner, without adopting good practices, he affirmed.
This shows that we are serious about the licenses to operate. We must be ambassadors for the good use of our portfolio and, in that sense, we know about the need to be proactive in communication. "
He insisted that communication had to be improved. "We need to talk more to the society. Companies are increasingly aware of the role we play in sustainability, " he asserted.
While he noted that there were positive changes, he said the company expected "a better campaign," as a result of the change in the government. "Reality showed us that change will be slower than we thought. That is why from Bayer, more than ever, we reaffirm the commitment to continue helping those in the field," he concluded.
