IHARA launches fungicide Approve in Brazil

IHARA has launched the fungicide Approve (thiophanate-methyl + fluazinam), which was developed at the company’s laboratories in Sorocaba, state of São Paulo, during the Show Rural Coopavel 2017, a major agricultural fair in southern Brazil.

 

The product is said to control a wide spectrum of diseases on several crops, including Asian rust on soybeans.

 

According to IHARA, Approve is a solution for the resistance management of Asian rust. Besides, it can be used for the control of other diseases such as anthracnose, white mold and target spot, either on soybeans or other crops such as cotton, kidney beans, corn or tomato.

 

As a protective fungicide against rust on soybeans, Approve is highlighted for presenting resistance to rain, “contrary to other used solutions, Approve brings a better protection,” explains the product manager of IHARA, Clayton Emanuela da Veiga. Besides, he highlighted the importance for the farmer to have a new product in resistance management, which is essential to maintain control levels of the fungus.

 

In field tests under pressure of Asian rust, the areas treated with Approve obtained a yield of 57.5 bags of 60 kg per hectare, 8.2 bags more than the area where the product was not used. In the case of the white mold, the use of Approve resulted in an average yield increase of 8.5 bags per hectare in comparison with the areas without this treatment, where the average productivity was only 44 bags.

 

“We have invested in the development of Approve because it responds to some of the most complex challenges facing Brazilian farmers currently, such as Asian rust and other diseases,” da Veiga explained.
