Argentina has approved 38 biotechnological transformation events, of which, four were approved in the past year. Three of them were corn.
Within the framework of the policies that drive Argentina's global leadership in the sector, the Ministry of Agroindustry approved, through Resolution 96 E/2016, published in the Official Gazette, a new biotechnology event for corn that will help reduce the potential for the development of insect biotypes that affect the crop.
"With these initiatives, we seek to bring the greatest advances to producers in the interest of sustainability and good agricultural practices," said Néstor Roulet from the Added Value department of the Ministry of Agroindustry.
This new development from Syngenta Agro S.A. allows more efficient control of the three pests that affect this crop: the cane borer, the caterpillar, and the hairy caterpillar. The new event introduces a stronger insecticide barrier that will increase the sustainability and durability of the technology.
