Bayer launches Poncho Energy technology for seed protection in Brazil
Date:12-05-2016
Bayer announced the launch of the Poncho Energy (600 g/L clothianidin + 250 g/L fipronil) technology for the treatment of industrial seeds in Brazil on November 23, 2016. The solution is composed of two insecticides that act on the control and management of plagues during the initial stage of soybeans. It is available in the center-western region, the Matopiba (stands for Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia), the southern state of Paraná and the Southeastern state of Minas Gerais.
The technology was presented during a meeting with seed growers in the Cerrado region of Brazil in Brasília, the country’s capital. The composition is an exclusive application for the industrial seed treatment and will be available for the 2017/2018 crop season.
“Innovation is within Bayer’s DNA, and we are always seeking to attend the market demands and anticipating trends. In this case, we realize the new dynamic of plagues on the soybean crops, and we are increasing our portfolio of solutions for the soybean farmer. This solution, the Poncho Energy, is a producer's demand for the management and control of soybeans from the air and from the soil,” Bayer’s Seed Growth Manager, Siegfried Baumann, affirmed.
According to Bayer, Poncho Energy is indicated for the control and management of sucking plants (such as bedbugs and whitefly), chewing pests and soil plagues like the beetles.
