Marrone Bio Innovations, Davis, CA, announces that its new fungicide, Regalia, is now listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). When registered by the EPA in May of 2009 (AgroNews date:2009-8-25 ) the product received status for use in organic production under the National Organic Program, which means organic growers could legally use Regalia.
Many organic certifiers and growers will only use products that have passed the OMRI review. "Were happy to offer organic growers the same effective disease control that conventional growers have been employing," states David Warman, Director of Sales at Marrone Bio Innovations. "Although not required for use in organic production, this OMRI listing will give organic growers a recognized listing when using Regalia on their certified acreage."
The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers, and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing.
Regalia is made from an extract of Reynoutria sachalinensis, and has a unique mode of action that induces resistance to several fungal and bacterial diseases in treated foliage. This unique mode of action is an important tool to aid in the prevention of resistance. Used in tank mixes, program rotations and stand-alone, Regalia is proven to control several important fungal and bacterial diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, Botrytis grey mold, Early blight, Late blight, Citrus Canker, and Bacterial leaf spot.
Regalia is widely available throughout the ag chem distribution channel. Registration is pending in California, although conventional growers can apply the prior formulation Regalia SC in several crops.
