Cyproconazole catches the attention of companies in China

By Think Real - In recent years, cyproconazole, a fungicide-triazole derivative, has been promoted rapidly in the global market, crossing the USD500 million line in sale with the compound annual growth rate over 20.0% in the recent 5 years. Currently, the mass production of cyproconazole in China is still absent for the moment. However, there is indication that domestic companies are paying more and more attention on it.
 
According to the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agricultural (ICAMA), at present there is only one valid registration of cyproconazole in China, obtained as 95% cyproconazole technical material by Jiangsu Fengdeng Crop Protection Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Fengdeng) in 2014. Before that, 4 other domestic companies had obtained the temporary technical material registration certificates once, but all of them had expired already.
 
Although so far there is only one valid registration of cyproconazole, many companies are about to obtain the approval certification of pesticide manufacturing and the enterprise qualification soon.
 
♦  Manufacturing certificate: in 2015, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released the list of companies that will obtain the approval certification of pesticide manufacturing for cyproconazole, which includes three companies as JiangSu Sevencontinent Green Chemical Co., Ltd. (Sevencontinent Green), Jiangsu Chengyang Crop Science Co., Ltd. and Yancheng Limin Agrochemical Co., Ltd..
 
In August 2016, 95% cyproconazole technical material of Jiangsu Sword Agrochemicals Co., Ltd. plans to get the manufacturing certificate.
 
♦ Manufacturing enterprise qualification license: Jiangsu Chengyang Crop Science Co., Ltd. will get the approval of production qualification of 200t/a 95% cyproconazole technical material soon.
 
In addition, according to the IPO prospectus of Jiangsu Flag Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., its subsidiary, Huaian Guorui Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., plans to raise funds and invest some certain projects, one of which is the 95% cyproconazole technical material with capacity of 300t/a.
 
About cyproconazole
 
Cyproconazole is a systemic fungicide which has good effect on controlling many diseases including rust, powdery mildew, smut and sheath blight. In 1988, cyproconazole was launched by Sandoz (now Syngenta) with the brand name Alto first in France and Sweden, which promptly became one of the popular products in Europe's bactericide market.
 
However, cyproconazole has no access to Chinese market for a long time. After 2012, five companies such as Sevencontinent Green had obtained eight registration certificates of cyproconazole. But all of the certificates have been expired except that Jiangsu Fengdeng got the official registered later.
 
The reasons preventing cyproconazole from obtaining registration and launching in China are that the ingredient degrades rather slowly in environment and is high-toxic to the aquatic organism.
