SGS acquires 75% stake in Unigeo, Brazil

SGS recently announced the acquisition of a 75 percent stake in Unigeo Agricultura de Precisâo (Unigeo), Goiania City, Goias State in Brazil.
Unigeo is the market leader in precision farming services in Brazil and operates a network of 10 offices across 7 states. It provides a large client base with services such as soil sampling and mapping, satellite and drone imagery, interpretation of crop information and online software for farm monitoring and management.
Founded in 2005 and privately owned, Unigeo employs 170 highly skilled staff and is expected to generate 2016 revenues in excess of BRL 30 million.
“This acquisition is an important step in our strategy to expand precision agriculture services in Latin America and to diversify our service portfolio along the Agri-Food value chain,” said Frankie Ng, CEO of SGS.
