ICAMA: national-wide investigation of production and sales of 8 pesticides

By Think Real-In June 2016, the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture made a notice, in a move to organise local institutes (provinces/ regions/ municipalities) to investigate into 8 pesticides, including carbendazim, trazine, triazophos, imidacloprid, alachlor, butachlor, metolcarb and dimethacarb. This is aimed at knowing well about their production, sales, use and safety risks, re-assessing them timely after registrations and ensuring the agricultural production safety, agricultural produce quality and safety and ecological environment safety.
Accordingly, the investigation includes:
- To check on production and sales of the said 8 pesticides (technical, formulations and mixtures);
- To check on the said 8 pesticides, in regard to agricultural production, environment safety and animal/ human health and safety;
- Pesticides specified locally to replace the said 8 pesticides, and their applications;
- Local policies and measures to restrict use of the said 8 pesticides.
