Zinc thiazole is a high-efficient and low-toxic thiazoles organic zinc bactericide developed by the staff of Zhejiang Xinnong Chemical, for which a national invention patent has been granted. The product is of high activity, broad spectrum and is safe for crops. It provides both protection and systemic functions, being effective on prevention and control of bacterial diseases existing in paddy, citrus and vegetable crops. Applications have so far proven effective in paddy, cucumber and citrus in China.
In 2012, a team from Zhejiang Xinnong Chemical began work to obtain registration in Thailand. Following the completion of a biological activity assay, the product was approved by Thailand’s agricultural ministry on January 16, 2013, and zinc thiozole, the active ingredient, was listed in Thailand’s plant protection product catalogue. Thereafter, for 2 years, Xinnong Chemical’s Chinese registration and research team worked on an overall assessment of zinc thiozole’s technical and formulations, having completed the acute toxicity test, field efficacy trials, crop residual test, chronic toxicology experiment, teratogenesis and carcinogenicity test, reproductive toxicity test, environmental toxicology test and environmental behavior test. All data was generated in accordance with international criteria, which fulfill the registration requirements of Thailand and major Asian Pacific regions.
In the years ahead, Xinnong Chemical is endeavoring to extend its market share of zinc thiazole to transform the product into an influential Chinese-created product in the local market.
