A new law in Brazil was approved under the No. 13.301/2016. The law allows an aerial spraying of insecticides for the control of Aedes Aegypti in urban areas. The initiative is a result of suggestion of the National Union of Agricultural Aviation Companies (Sindag) as a measure to control the vector insects of diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and zika virus.
According to the text approved by interim president Michel Temer, it was established a “permission of incorporation of vector mechanisms of control through the dispersion by the approval aircraft of health authorities and scientific proof of effectiveness.”
Besides this, the law allows other measures of combat to the vector as the forced entrance into homes for the elimination of focuses in three cases: when there are visible signs of abandoning, after two visits without the possibility of locating a responsible that concede the entrance in the place and when there is an expressed refusal of allowing an inspection of a public agent.
The new law establishes yet the intuition in national level the day of “Saturday as a day of cleaning activities in real estate with identification and elimination of focuses of the vectors with wide mobilization of the community.” It also stipulates the “making of educative campaigns and orientations to the population, in special to the fertile age and pregnant women released in all media outlets, including state radio programs.”
