DuPont Crop Protection has announced that it has obtained the definitive registration granted by regulators for the insecticide Verimark in Brazil. A last generation product, which the active ingredient is Cyantraniliprole (200 g/L), Verimark now becomes part of the company's insecticides program. The agrochemical relies on the recommendation for the use on 28 crops, mostly lettuce, potato, tomato and others, including diverse minor crops.
Recommended for the control of important plagues such as the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), the Leaf Miner Fly (Lyriomyza huidobrensis) and the Dimond Back Moth (Plutella xylostella). The product, according to DuPont, contributes to the establishment of crop, when applied early in the cycle. The applications of Verimark are directed to the use at the soil.
The arrival of Verimark, informs the company, will allow the producer to adopt the DuPont Verimark Program and the DuPont Benevia Program on crops which both have registration. “It is a new concept on crop protection and the production management, an innovation which transfers extraordinary results,” points out Luís Grandeza, agronomist and Fruit and Vegetable Crops at DuPont in Brazil. At the stage of tests and researches, adds the executive, gains of productivity were observed in over 200 demonstrative fields.
"At the comparison of the treatment employed with potato, for instance, the use of the programs Verimark and Benevia brought gains of up to 37 bags per hectare,” exemplifies Grandeza. The executive reveals that this result “is linked to the excellent effect of the treatment at the moment that the crop needs more protection”. “The plants can express to achieve a maximum productive potential,” continues Grandeza.
Grandeza highlights yet that the introduction of Verimark in the market will amplify the range of solutions for the field to control the insect-plague. He emphasizes that DuPont recommends that the farmer will do the resistance management of plagues. According to the agronomist, the alternation of active ingredients of different chemical groups throughout the crop “is fundamental for the effective control of production”. “The producer must not use one single active ingredient during the crop cycle,” ends Grandeza.
Verimark is registered for the following crops: lettuce, potato, coffee, kidney beans, tobacco, melon, cucumber, pepper, cabbage, tomato, cress, endive, chicory, spinach, rocket, broccoli, cauli-flower, eggplant, chili, zuchini, squash, chayote, gherkin and okra.
