From now on, alterations on commercial brand of an agrochemical will be evaluated only by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (Mapa). The measure aims to simplify the procedure and reduce up to 40% of the product registration line in analysis, “bringing speed to serve manufacturers”.
“Companies interested in altering the commercial brand of its agrochemicals – without changing any technical aspect of the product – will not need to go through the approval of three agencies (Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Natural Environment and Ministry of Health). An analysis conducted by only one of those agencies will be necessary. If it is an agricultural product, it would be only Mapa,” announced the Ministry in an official statement.
According to the secretary of Agricultural Defense, Luis Rangel, the changes on the registration of agrochemicals will bring more transparency to the farmers and speed for the registration grants. “The simplification of the procedure does not influence the content nor the technical aspect of the product. We are reducing the bureaucracy without compromising the technical evaluation,” said Rangel.
