Monsanto provides additional information on its product development pipeline
Date:01-26-2016
Monsanto recently announced updates to its 2016 research and development pipeline, which is poised to address the needs of farmers around the world.
Outlining projects according to three focus areas, Monsanto's platforms demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainable agricultural practices by:
1. Reducing the footprint of global ag production through better harvests
Developments in plant breeding and advancements in digital agricultural tools will help farmers grow more on the same land.
2. Protecting the footprint of global ag production from increasing threats
Insects, weeds and disease reduce harvests worldwide. New technologies such as Roundup Ready 2Xtend Soybeans and Bollgard II XtendFlex Cotton provide farmers new ways to control weeds.
3. Delivering continuous improvement to global ag production
Research and innovative technologies will offer new ways to address critical needs, such as:
BioDirect Technology - the world's first biological approach to combating the Varroa mite, a devastating threat to pollinating bees.
BioAg Alliance, a Monsanto collaboration with Novozymes, focusing on how soil microbes can improve nutrient access and unlock yield potential.
The Climate Corporation's Nitrogen Advisor and its Sub-Field Nitrogen enhancement, designed to provide farmers with insights on nitrogen rates and timing.
