AMVAC introduces OREON fungicide
Date:01-25-2016
AMVAC Chemical Corporation has introduced OREON fungicide(PCNB+tebuconazole), a combination fungicide that provides both contact and systemic activity against common turf diseases such as anthracnose (Colletotrichum cereale), dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa) and brown patch (Rhizoctonia solani).
OREON is a unique combination of two active ingredients – PCNB and tebuconazole fungicides – each with a proven record of performance against a multitude of turf diseases. The water-based, flowable formulation offers improved turf safety compared to existing PCNB products. This can be further enhanced by tank mixing OREON with an appropriate pigment product.
The combination of PCNB and tebuconazole gives golf course superintendents the ability to conveniently use both contact and systemic active ingredients. OREON provides broad-spectrum disease control and is the only premix product on the market that contains a FRAC Group 14 fungicide. This makes OREON an important component of fungicide resistance management programs.
“Research trials have proven OREON provides excellent control of anthracnose, dollar spot and brown patch,” said Chuck Silcox, Ph.D., product development manager, AMVAC Environmental Products. “Golf course superintendents are facing increasing resistance issues with anthracnose and dollar spot. OREON provides a new tool to help control these challenging diseases.”
OREON should be applied to turfgrass that is well established, actively growing and not under excessive heat, moisture or drought stress. Recommended application rates are 8 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet for anthracnose control on greens and tees and 6 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet for dollar spot, brown patch and other diseases on fairways. Always read and follow label directions.
“The addition of OREON to our portfolio gives us an attractive offering for golf course superintendents,” said Jeff Alvis, business manager, AMVAC Environmental Products. “This product introduction demonstrates the commitment AMVAC has to the turf and golf industries, and we’re looking to bring additional solutions to this sector in the near future.”
The AMVAC fungicide portfolio also includes AUTILUS Turf Fungicide, a tank-mix partner used for control of anthracnose on putting greens, and TURFCIDE, an excellent snow mold product with a 50-year history of success.
