Date:01-04-2016
Chinese agrochemical company Jiangsu Fengdeng Crop Science was recently approved for full registration of 98% cyprodinil by the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals (ICAMA), MOA (Ministry of Agriculture), making it the first Chinese company to register cyprodinil technical in China. Multinational Syngenta had formerly obtained approval for 98% cyprodinil technical. The formulated products registered include 50% WDG and 30% SC, mainly used for controlling grape grey mould and rice blast.
Cyprodinil was originally developed by Novartis (now Syngenta), under the commercial names Chorus, Stereo, Switch, Vangard, UNIX, and so on around world. The active ingredient offers both protection and a cure and can penetrate through leaves or be absorbed by the roots. Cyprodinil is typically used in a foliar spray or seed treatment against grey mould, powdery mildew, and scabs on various kinds of crops. Cyprodinil has obtained registration in Chile, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, and so on, recording sales of $180 million in 2013.
Jiangsu Fengdeng is currently the largest manufacturer of triazoles in China. To expand its product portfolio, considering the wide application and promising market of cyprodinil, plus the lack of cross resistance with existing products, the company has decided to develop and register their cyprodinil technical product.
