Adama announced the launch in Brazil of the new fungicide Jade®. The product was developed to protect from diseases and increase up to two times the life of mangoes and papaya.
Applied at the pre-harvest stage, Jade® avoids the proliferation of fungi and harmful diseases to the food, which maintains longer the healthy appearance of the fruit, considered a crucial factor in consumers' choice.
This is what explains the portfolio manager of Adama, Leandro Pressente: “The apprearance and the conservation of the fruit flavor makes it more likely to be consumed. Today, unfortunately, around 40% of what is planted ends up at the trash and a lot is due to the visual of the food”.
Exclusive in Brazil, the fungicide increases the shelf life of the fruits. For instance, the shelf life of mango and papaya is only about seven days at the gondolas, considering the period between the harvest and the hands of consumers.
With the prevention of the fungicide, the fruit can last for 20 days, which increases the chances of being consumed. Pessente highlights that the application of the product helps even at the time of exports: “A lot of food is not even sold because it spoils at the path. Jade® was developed within the most rigorous national and international standards of residual limit. With the treatment it is possible to commercialize and export the fruits with the certainty that would maintain its visual characteristics and flavor at the same time”.
