UPL group's Advanta Sementes enters soybean seeds market in Brazil

 An arm of Indian group UPL, Advanta Sementes has just announced its entrance in the Brazilian market of soybean seeds. With the commercial brand “Vereda”, the new line has two varieties: ADV4341 IPRO and ADV4317 IPRO, both developed in partnership with Don Mario and using Monsanto's Intacta technology.

“These materials are early maturing, very well adapted to Brazil's cerrado. Besides the productivity and yield stability, they will compose, with corn and sorghum, the offer of Advanta's solutions for the first and second corn crop,” affirms Edison Kopacheski, CEO of Advanta Sementes in Brazil.

“According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, in June of this year the main exporting sector in the country was the soybean complex with 49.1% (of the total). We need to meet this growing demand and help the producers to achieve that. Therefore, we work through innovation, to promote and pointing out new ideas. Claudio Torres, Global CEO of Advanta, announced that the company aims to invest R$ 200 million in Brazil in the coming years, especially in the areas of research, development and production. “The company had a global growth of 21% in revenue reaching US$ 240 million in 2014. The goal is an aggressive growth in the next five years and Brazil will play a key role in this process. In Brazil, the company has a research and development station, located in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais”.
