Rotam launched non-GMO herbicide tolerance project
Date:06-03-2015
Recently Rotam announced a merger of China’s Tianjin Longde Chemical that develops and manufactures crop protection formulation product.
Rotam has cooperated with the US Cibus in a global non-GMO RTDS herbicide tolerance research and production program. RTDS is known as a rapid precision breeding herbicide tolerance system, which is accepted as a non-GMO technology in the US, EU and China. So far the system has successfully developed the herbicide-tolerant canola (a kind of low erucic acid rape); the non-GMO canola oil so squeezed already came into market as approved by FDA last year. At present herbicide-tolerant canola seed production value has reached roughly over US$100 million.
In 2014 Rotam’s agro-technical business sales reached US$352.6 million at growth rate which is higher than the average level of the industry. The capacity of Rotam’s Longde facility is nearly 2 times bigger than its Kunshan factory, capable of fulfilling the requirement of business growth in the 5to 7 years ahead.
