MEP plans to implement Measures for Recycling of Pesticide Packaging Waste
Date:05-26-2015
The Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China (MEP) drafted the
Measures for Recycling of Pesticide Packaging Waste (Trial) and solicited public opinions on 14 April, 2015.
The term "pesticide packaging waste" in the Measures refers to the discarded used packages in direct contact with pesticides applied in agriculture, forestry or other purposes (except hygienic pesticide), including plastics, glass, metal and bottles, cans, barrels and bags in paper materials, etc.
The Measures requires pesticide manufacturers to take the following major responsibilities: to promote easy-to-recycle packaging materials for pesticide packages, establish packaging coding, sign agreement with pesticide distributors on pesticide packaging waste and develop standing books for recycling, etc.
