Brazil to launch national agricultural defense plan

Brazil will have a new national agricultural defense plan starting next May 6. The announcement was made by Agriculture minister, Kátia Abreu, after a meeting with Brazilian president, Dilma Roussef, and ministor Aloizio Mercadante and Nelson Barbosa.
The agricultural defense plan will update all the legal framework, qualifying, working with states and municipalities at the combat and defense agriculture with rules and standards not only for preventions, but in cases of risk.
Meanwhile, the National Agricultural Laboratories will pass through a restructuring and modernization. The goal is to show Brazilian consumers and worldwide that Brazilian authorities are "committed with the health issue".
The new plan also provides the elaboration of a study on the costs. "Today there is not a measure of how much is the cost per hectare of the Asian Rust. We'll have the cost calculated so that the Union, the government and the National Congress can be able to fight for these resources and maintain them." explained the minister.
