China announces cotton grower's planting intention survey of 2015

A nation-wide cotton grower’s intention survey was carried out by the China National Cotton Market Monitoring System in March so as to understand cotton grower’s planting intention in 2015. The result reveals an intended cotton plantation area of 3.4 million ha all over the country in 2015, which is 0.9 million ha less, being 20.1% down year on year.
Xinjiang still remains to be the largest cotton plantation region, where the intended plantation area is 2.1 million ha, accounting for 60.4% of the total of the country, being 9.6% down year on year.
The 2nd largest cotton plantation region will be the Yellow River area (Shandong, He’nan, Hebei, Shanxin and Tianjin Municipality), where the intended plantation area is 0.7 million ha, accounting for 21.3% of the total of the country, being 31.8% down year on year.
The intended plantation region will be in the Yangtze area (Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hu’nan and Jiangxi), where the decrease is higher than other plantation regions, being 0.6 million ha, accounting for 7% of the total of the country, 33.8% down year on year.
