Australian OGTR consults on GM cotton tests from CSIRO
Date:03-27-2015
The Australian Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has received a licence application from CSIRO to conduct a field trial of GM cotton with enhanced fibre quality.
The trial is proposed to take place between October 2015 and May 2018 on up to one hectare per year, at one site in Narrabri, New South Wales. The trial would be subject to control measures that restrict the spread and persistence of the GM plants and their introduced genetic material. The GM cotton will not be sold for human food or animal feed.
The public comments will be closed on April 26, 2015.
