EFSA gave positive opinion on two GM carnations
Date:01-19-2015
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has released positive Scientific Opinion to two applications from Florigene company for the placing on the market of the genetically modified carnations IFD-25958-3 and IFD-26407-2 with a modified colour, for import of cut flowers for ornamental use. These GM carnation varieties were developed to express anthocyanins in the petals conferring a mauve colour to the flowers. The EFSA GMO Panel concludes that there is no scientific reason to consider that the placing on the market of these two GM carnations will cause any adverse effects on human health or the environment.
