Bac Control WP exceeds 80% control efficiency of corn earworm

Studies from the last harvest revealed that the control efficiency of corn earworm (Helicoverpa armigera) with the use of Bac-Control® WP exceeded 80% in Brazil, according to researchers from State University of Ponta Grossa. Bac-Control® WP is Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) based product. The product has been recommended for integrated pest management programs of corn earworm and other Helicoverpa species. It acts on all stages of the caterpillar development, including the control of the species resistant to conventional agrochemicals.
According to the company responsible for the production, Vectorcontrol (formerly Aricontrol), Bac-Control® WP is a selective product that eliminates the caterpillar and preserves the beneficial species and pest predators.
"When ingesting it, the caterpillar stops eating immediately. This reduces the number of applications. The continued use does not provoke the appearance of resistant caterpillar. Bac-Control® WP is not toxic, so it does not offer risk to the applicator and food consumers," stated Vectorcontrol, which obtained the registration of this product in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply in 1987.
