Canada to ok BASF’s fungicide Caramba
Date:12-22-2014
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full registration of BASF’s fungicide metconazole and end-use product Caramba, to control or suppress certain foliar fungal diseases on cereal crops, soybeans, and sugarbeets. Metconazole is a triazole fungicide (Group 3) that inhibits sterol biosynthesis. To minimize environmental risk from metconazole, PMRA notes that spray buffer zones has been updated to 50 m for aerial application and 2 m for ground application to protect sensitive aquatic habitats. The agency is calling for public comment until January 25
th 2015.
