Australia to approve Dow’s herbicide halauxifen-methyl
Date:12-19-2014
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of Dow AgroSciences’ herbicide halauxifen-methyl (trademarked as Arylex) as a new ais. The agency also proposed the end-use product GF-2685 (100 g/L halauxifen-methyl, 100 g/L cloquintocet-mexyl) for post-emergent control of hard to kill broad leaf weeds in wheat and barley. Halauxifen-methyl is the first member of a class of new synthetic auxin herbicides, the arylpicolinates, while cloquintocet-mexyl acts as a safener. Dow AgroSciences received Arylex’s registration in China and Canada early this year. The company is also expecting to receive its approval in US, Russia, EU, South America and India. APVMA is seeking public comment until January 27th 2015.
