Australia extends insecticide dimethoate suspension

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has extended the suspension of the registrations and label approvals for insecticide dimethoate. This suspension in effect until October 5th 2015. The APVMA suspended all products containing dimethoate and their associated labels on 6 October 2011, because of dietary exposure concern. The authority notes that continued suspension of 13 dimethoate containing products is necessary to ensure the ais does not cause any undue hazard to the safety of people.
