According to the report published by CropLife Latin America, in Latin America and the Caribbean regions, agriculture generates 28% of employment. Average agricultural exports from Latin America represent 23% of the world total. In 2013, the farmers contributed 3% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Latin America. Today, farmers lose between 20% and 40% of their crops by the actions of pests, weeds and diseases.
