New Zealand approves BASF’s fungicide Adexar
Date:08-20-2014
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has approved the import and manufacture of Adexar applied by BASF. Adexar is a fungicide containing epoxiconazole and fluxapyroxad, for use on cereals to combat the growing issue of fungicide resistance.
The EPA also imposed a number of rules to prevent harm. These include a requirement for the substance to be used by a qualified operator when it is dispersed widely (eg when sprayed on large areas crops), and a restriction on its use onto, into or over water, to protect aquatic organisms.
The EPA closed the public comment for this application in October 2013.
