Date:08-12-2014
AgriThority® LLC, an independent global science consultancy, adds accomplished formulation chemist Roy Chen to its team of Associates supporting new and emerging biotechnologies and conventional chemistries in crop protection industry.
Chen joins the integrated global science consultancy as the Chemical and Microbial Biopesticide Formulations Specialist. His formulation process and laboratory expertise strengthens AgriThority services involving seed treatment and crop protection products ranging from biologicals and biorationals to synthetic chemistries for companies ranging from small start-up ventures to multinational basic manufacturers.
With more than 35 years of formulation and technology development experience, Chen offers services in project management, database support and formulation scaling for commercial distribution. His work to secure patents for agrichemical/biopesticide formulation technologies he developed will provide additional registration experience to AgriThority clients. Formulations produced by Chen cover a broad spectrum of crops, including corn, cotton, grapes and other agronomic and horticultural crops.
"Roy is a valued asset to AgriThority as we see expanding interest in formulation expertise, especially in the seed treatment industry," says Jerry Duff, AgriThority managing member. "As a formulations expert with an established record in technology development, Roy will play an instrumental role guiding new and existing clients as they test and commercialize discoveries to improve agriculture around the world."
Chen was most recently Senior Research Chemist at Bayer CropScience, holding that position for 11 years. AgriThority will benefit from Chen's experience as lead chemist in developing formulations for products such as Poncho®/VOTiVO® FS seed treatment and Admire® Pro 4.6 F. Chen also pioneered molecule formulation studies to improve bioefficacy, adjuvancy and rainfastness of fiprole and chloronicotinic compounds.
His educational achievements include a master's degree in organic chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University and a PhD in polymer/water based latex chemistry from the University of Akron.
