Date:05-13-2014
Sumitomo Chemical’s 95% propyrisulfuron technical and its formulated product 9.5% SC have been granted registration from the Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA). As per
Chinese registration watch, the propyrisulfuron SC is used for controlling annual weed in rice, and Sumitomo is the first and only company approved for propyrisulfuron technical and formulation product in China.
Propyrisulfuron is a selective herbicide with broad spectrum and residue activity. The active ingredient is especially effective to those weeds developed sulfonylureas resistance. Propyrisulfuron was discovered by Takeda and was approved registration in Japan in 2008. Sumitomo inherited the product and launched it in Japan in granulated flowable formulations for the control of barnyard grass and broadleaf weeds in rice.
The global sales of propyrisulfuron in 2012 is less than $ 10 million.
