Futureco Bioscience restructures R&D and adds new researchers
Date:02-12-2014
Spain agro-biotechnology company Futureco Bioscience restructures its R&D and adds to its staff a senior and two junior researchers. With these additions the company accelerates the launch of new Biopesticides, Biofertilizers and Bioactivators products.
Futureco Bioscience SA restructures and extends the organization of the most valuable asset of the company: its R&D and Regulatory Affairs Department. The company defines three work areas and reinforces its strategy to systematize research focused on serial development of innovative Biopesticides, Biofertilizers and Bioactivators.
The management system of R&D is part of the Strategic Plan 2014-2018 of Futureco Bioscience, whose main objectives are to expand the market from the 22 countries in which the company distributes its products to 50, and increase the weight of Biopesticides to more than a 20% of its total turnover. Extending the NOFLY label in USA, authorizing its distribution in several countries in the EU and Morocco and the imminent release of Actinovate in Europe will allow this growth.
To achieve its objectives in R&D&I, a significant investment in equipment and staff of excellence is expected, combined with a management model that ensures modular and easily scalable product development at cruise speed.
The new management model changes the old organization of R&D Futureco Bioscience, divided in areas of knowledge related to their laboratories (entomology, nematology, biotechnology, molecular biology, plant pathology and microbiology), into a new structure consisting of three strategic cores or programs to address the expansion of the range of solutions for agriculture that respect the environment.
These programs are: Research in Biopesticides & Biochemical Research, Research in Biofertilizers & Bioactivators and Development and Innovation. The first two are focused on the development of products whose active ingredients are primarily microorganisms, metabolic fractions, biotechnological synthesis of molecules and natural extracts. The Development and Innovation program will bring together registration processes, patents and international trade.
Functionally, the Department is organized in 7 units of work: Microbiology & Biochemistry, Plant Physiology, Development & Innovation Screening Efficiency, R&D (Prototype), Analytical Chemistry & Formulation, and Regulatory Affairs.
Accompanied by the new management model, the company has incorporated three people to the R&D team: two junior researchers, Lola Piol and Clara Oliver, and a senior researcher, Belén López- García, with an extensive experience in antimicrobial peptides, one of the tools of biocontrol that could inaugurate a new line of business in the catalogue of Futureco Bioscience.
Futureco Bioscience SA is aware of the excellence that is required in a team in order to lead new developments to position with a strong, robust and high value supply of agrobiological zero waste solutions, as well as its effort and commitment to do so from its place of origin, Barcelona.
