Date:11-21-2013
US EPA has proposed to approve the registrations for Nichino America’s insecticide products based on the active ingredient tolfenpyrad on food or feed crops. The proposed new uses include post-emergence foliar application on potato, leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, stone fruits, persimmon, pomegranate, grape, tree nuts, cotton, and an import tolerance for tea.
Tolfenpyrad was first assessed by EPA in June of 2010 in conjunction with non-food uses on ornamental plants in greenhouses. Tolfenpyrad is currently registered as a technical grade active ingredient and emulsifiable concentrate end-use product in the US for ornamental greenhouse use and in Japan for use on vegetables and tea plants. Tolfenpyrad is proposed for US registration as a suspension concentrate end-use products. The proposed uses would expand the existing TGAI and emulsifiable concentrate end-use labels and be included on the label of the suspension concentrate end-use product.
