US cancellation of 220 pesticide registrations for non-payment

The US EPA has announced the cancellation of 220 Pesticides registrations for non-payment of annual maintenance fees that were due under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) on Jan 15, 2013. The maintenance fee has been required payment to keep pesticide registrations in effect since the amendments of October 1988, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
Maintenance fees have been paid for 15,804 FIFRA section 3 registrations, or about 97% of the registrations on file in December 2012. Fees have been paid for 1,941 FIFRA section 24(c) registrations, or about 86% of the total on file in December 2012. Cancellations for nonpayment of the maintenance fee affect 196 FIFRA section 3 registrations and 24 FIFRA section 24(c) registrations.
