New Zealand consults on import of BASF's fungicide Adexar
Date:09-26-2013
BASF has applied to the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority(EPA) to import its fungicide Adexar with the active ingredients fluxapyroxad and epoxiconazole. It is used as a spray on wheat and barley crops to prevent or control fungal diseases.
Adexar can pose a risk to human health and to aquatic organisms, but these risks can be managed if it is handled properly. Adexar will provide improved crop quality and yields for cereal growers, and flow-on financial benefits, the company notes.
The agency has opened the public comments until October 30, 2013.
