To help control pests and diseases in vegetables and fruits, BASF presented fungicides CabrioTop ®, Cantus ®, Forum ®, and Collis ®; insecticides Pirate ® and Nomolt ®, and System AgCelence ® HF at the 20th Hortitec of Brazil, which contributes to increase productivity. The event takes place between June 19thand 21stin Holambra (SP).
According to the Society of General Warehouses of Sao Paulo State (Ceagesp), in 2012 fruits and vegetables market has reached nearly 3 million tons in that state. Only the first four months of 2013, the volume reached 955,000 tons. "It is a representative sector, which includes mainly small farmers. The quality and integrity of the final products are essential to ensure better business, and BASF has AgCelence System ® HF contributing to it, "says Fruit and Vegetables Marketing Manager for BASF, Eduardo Eugenio.
The System AgCelence ® HF potato and tomato integrates sequential application of fungicides Cantus ® and Cabrio ® Top, providing better control disease cultures and also indicate an increase in yield and quality of harvested products. In the culture of grapes, fungicides and Collis ® Cabrio ® Top are used at different stages of handling. This model allows better fruit quality and higher brix degree, making the fruit sweeter and palatable.
For insect control, BASF presented Pirate ® insecticide at the fair. The product acts through ingestion or contact. For potatoes, helps controlling the potato moth, thrips and leaf-mining. In tomato crops, the pesticide controls tomato pests. Moreover, the Pirate ® acts on pests and mites in beans, papaya, passion fruit and garlic crops. Other products that complement BASF supply to vegetables and fruits are Polyram DF ®, Acrobat MZ ®, Regent ® 800 WG and Nomolt ®, and they were also shown at the event.
