Bayer CropScience India posted a net profit of Rs 71.8 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31,2013 on account of strong sales.
It had clocked a net loss of Rs 21.6 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal, the company said.
The net profit rose as the company's total income improved sharply to Rs 390.5 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal, as compared with Rs 253.4 crore in the year-ago period.
During the entire 2012-13 fiscal, the net profit of the company jumped to Rs 1,161.7 crore, as against Rs 139 crore.
"The exceptional items for the current year represents profit of Rs 1,108.3 crore arising from sale of Thane land and buildings and Rs 82.3 crore arising from sale of Powai building," Bayer CropScience said in a footnote to the financial statement for the 2012-13 fiscal.
Its income increased to Rs 2,725.3 crore from Rs 2,272.3 crore in the review period.
Bayer CropScience operates in three business segments: crop protection, bioscience and environmental science. It offers wide range of products and extensive service backup for modern, sustainable agriculture as well as for on-agricultural applications.
