Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) recently announced to inspect the environmental impact of the glyphosate herbicide manufacturers for the purpose of improvement to the glyphosate production pollution control.
Glyphosate environmental inspection covers the compliance of waste water, waste solid and waste gas treatment while focusing on waste water treatment, viz. if the waste mother liquor from glycine glyphosate process is treated up to standard. The inspection this time will target at phosphor utilization and sodium chloride recovery to identify key issues existing with glyphosate production and pollution control.
Furthermore with matured production of PMIDA in China using iminodiacetonitrile as raw material, PMIDA production volume has been growing very fast; therefore PMIDA is included in the environmental inspection this time, which will help to reduce the discharge from the source. Also waste water treatment pertaining to IDA glyphosate process will be taken good care of.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection plans to complete the glyphosate production environmental inspection by the end of 2015, to be followed by publication of names of compliant glyphosate / PMIDA producers.
