Hybrid rice seed breeding platform established in China

Recently 12 Chinese hybrid rice seed enterprises including Long Ping High-Tech and Fengle Seed have entered into a Framework Agreement to establish a hybrid rice seed breeding platform with an investment of Yuan 300 million, of which Long Ping High-Tech contributes Yuan 129 million accounting for 43% of the registered capital, being the first majority shareholder.

The platform takes the form of a semi-nonprofit R & D institution, which aims to integrate the worldwide advanced technical achievement with its own biological breeding research for application to Chinese hybrid rice seed breeding so as to provide a technical backup for Chinese seed breeding industries.

The platform focuses on the genetic locating of main agronomic traits of backbone parents, cloning and protection, development of specific molecular markers, high throughput, factory molecule detection, rice backbone parent & good resource phenotype verification, study of dominant genus and breakthrough material applications.
