Dieckmann GmbH & Co. KG announced the planned sale of certain operations to Monsanto.
Under the agreement, which is subject to the approval of the relevant national antitrust authorities to the extent required, Monsanto will acquire the oilseed rape and rye seed business areas as well as the distribution of corn and sunflower seeds.
“I am confident that the transfer of these business areas to Monsanto will create new opportunities for customers and employees of both companies,” said Johannes Dieckmann, Managing Director of Dieckmann Seeds, who will remain active in the breeding, development, production, marketing, sale and distribution of other seeds, in particular cereals, as well as its farming business.
“This transaction represents a long-term strategic investment for Monsanto in Germany and Eastern Europe, building on Dieckmann Seeds` success to-date,” said Björn Neumann, Commercial Lead, Row Crops, for Monsanto Germany. “We expect the investment to improve our ability to deliver high performance hybrid oilseed rape seeds to our farmer customers as well as to increase the assortment of hybrid seeds we can provide. It also offers new business opportunities, particularly in Eastern Europe, and will help expand the range of crop rotation options available to farmers.”
Additional terms and financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
